A demo at the 2017 HPBZWhat It's About:

Remodeling contractors have a huge opportunity to upgrade efficiency while working on client’s houses, but retrofitting high performance systems is much harder than building new. This demonstration will focus on the strategies, costs and risks of insulating and air sealing existing houses.

Attendees examine the frame built at the 2017 HPBZ

  • The importance of developing a long-term high performance remodeling plan: you don’t have to do it all now
  • Re-roofing and re-siding are perfect times for energy upgrades
  • Critical tools and tests for determining remodeling priorities
  • Should the insulation go on the inside or outside? Which option is cheaper?
  • Triple pane windows are the new double pane
  • How to avoid creating mold and moisture issues
