What It's About:

Have you always wanted to try your hand at 3D modeling, but don’t have time to learn a new computer program? Are you looking for a new tool to help you communicate better with your clients before and during your builds? SketchUp (formerly Google SketchUp) is a 3D modeling software that allows you to fully "build" projects without ever cutting a board. It is free to get started, highly intuitive, fun to use—and extremely powerful. This session will walk you through the capabilities of SketchUp, demonstrate how to start a simple project and provide practical advice on how to use SketchUp in your sales process. Bring your laptop and be ready to participate!

All attendees are highly encouraged to download and install SketchUp on their laptops prior to the session.

Office Hours with Rusty:
Following this session, new and experienced SketchUp users are invited to stick around to work one-on-one or in small groups with Rusty to see more in-depth features of the software and have your specific questions answered.

What You'll Learn:

  • Learn how to start a project in SketchUp, including how to draw a simple room with doors and windows.
  • Learn how to use the 3D warehouse to import existing models into your projects.
  • Learn how to quickly use SketchUp to plan a space.
  • Learn how to use SketchUp to communicate ideas with clients.

Continuing Education: NAHB - 0.50 CE hour(s)

How to Attend:

Participants must be registered for a full registration package or a 1-day education with expo pass package valid for the day of the session they wish to attend. Seating for Tech Bytes sessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
