Michael R. Poole, AIA, NCARB is managing partner and Chief Executive Officer of Poole & Poole Architecture (2PA), a Richmond based firm with offices in Nashville and Charleston. A founding principal, Mike champions 2PA’s mission to creative livable and sustainable communities while offering innovative solutions, excellence in design and superior client service. Mike is considered an industry leader in multi-family architecture with over 25 years of experience in architecture, master planning, design, and construction. He holds 18 architectural licenses, working in states throughout the southeast and mid-west. In the last ten years alone, Mike has successfully overseen the completion of over 100 multi-family communities with over 20,000 apartment units. His design expertise coupled with technical knowledge on code and construction issues combined with his preservation background is a cornerstone of the success of 2PA. The firm has a strong commitment to sustainable, vibrant communities which is reflected by the dozens of projects that have achieved LEED, Earthcraft and Viridiant certification. Mike's work has been locally and nationally recognized through awards and publications, chief amongst these the RAMMYs, Richmond Magazine, NAHB’s Pillars of the Industry Awards, the Aurora Awards, the Paris Design Awards and the Multi-Family Executive Awards. Mike is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design where he received both a Bachelor and Masters of Architecture as well as a Bachelor in Historic Preservation. He has been recognized by his alma mater as a distinguished alumnus. He is currently President of the AIA Richmond Chapter.
