Shawn Van Dyke
Shawn Van Dyke earned his Master degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He spent several years working as a design engineer before he made the transition to working in the field on large commercial construction projects as a Project and Quality Control Manager. He then combined his engineering and construction experience and started a career as a Construction Manager and Owner's Representative for a commercial real estate developer. His work took him all over the South East and Mid-West managing and constructing large commercial real estate developments. In 2005, Shawn started his first company, a construction management consulting firm. After the recession, Shawn pivoted his company to focus on the residential remodeling industry. Shawn owned and operated a general contracting business until 2013 when he was recruited as the COO for a specialty construction company. As COO, Shawn designed and implemented systems and strategies that doubled not only the size of the company, but also the company's profits. In late 2016, Shawn created the SKILLED TRADE | SOUND BUSINESS project and wrote the book "The Paperwork Punch List: 28 Days to Streamline Your Construction Business". Shawn is now a construction industry consultant, business coach, and mentor. He is a Brand Ambassador for Fine Homebuilding and works with clients all over the US and Canada to grow their businesses and increase their profitability. He travels the US teaching and training construction business owners on how to create and grow a legacy construction business.
