A demo at the 2017 HPBZWhat It's About:

This demonstration will explain how to properly condition basements and attics cost effectively while simultaneously improving the health, safety, durability and energy performance of the house. These tricky spaces offer another alternative to get ducts into conditioned spaces.

      

What You’ll See and Learn:

Attendees examine the frame built at the 2017 HPBZ

  • How much insulation goes under the basement slab
  • The importance of a thermal break at the basement wall/slab intersection
  • Air sealing and insulation are critical at the rim joist
  • Drywall and vapor barrier options for a finished basement
  • Using rigid foam to vent rafter bays in the roof
  • Using 2x furring to vent on top of the roof sheathing
  • Supporting applied eaves with cantilevered 2xs on roof sheathing
