A demo at the 2017 HPBZWhat It's About:

The latest codes require air-tightness testing for good reason: air sealing is the key to lower energy bills and better indoor air quality. See the methods and materials for both exterior and interior air barriers using either the exterior sheathing or drywall as the primary air barrier. You’ll also learn which caulks and foams to use and where to use them.

What You’ll See and Learn:

Attendees examine the frame built at the 2017 HPBZ

  • Sealant or gaskets at the mudsill
  • Structural sheathing installed with sealants or gaskets at edges
  • Taped and rolled seams
  • How to use drywall as an effective air barrier
  • Using gaskets or sealants at plate lines and intersecting walls
  • Components for sealing mechanical penetrations
