Educated as an architect, Jacob has over 30 years of technology and green building experience. He developed KB Home’s “Double Zero” homes. These ground-breaking homes are designed to produce as much energy as they’re expected to consume, and include energy storage. At the same time, they recycle greywater, eliminating the need for fresh water in landscape irrigation. Other recent projects include launching the 2016 Greenbuild KB Home ProjeKt, a concept home for today, tomorrow and the future. The home integrated smart devices with advanced lighting technologies that can be adjusted to the occupants’ circadian rhythms to promote optimum wakefulness and restfulness for health, wellness, and productivity. Previously, Jacob developed KB Home’s Energy Performance Guide, which provides KB homeowners with information on the relative energy efficiency and estimated gas and electricity costs.
Jacob serves on the board of directors for Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET). He also serves on the technical committee for Leading Builders of America, and on the advisory board for TecHome Builder. In recent years he chaired Orange County’s Urban Land Institute’s Sustainable Communities Council.
