What It's About:

The Federal Home Loans Banks' (FHLBanks) Affordable Housing Program (AHP) is the largest private source of funds for the purchase, construction and rehabilitation of housing for low- to moderate-income families in the United States. Each FHLBank offers AHP products that are designed to help financial institutions meet the credit and development needs of their specific communities. The programs can help home builders and developers finance affordable housing developments, create homeownership opportunities and stabilize neighborhoods, while reaching new customers and growing business opportunities. In this session, representatives from FHLBank Atlanta and FHLBank Des Moines will discuss the AHP products they offer and how builders can make the best use of them to reach homebuyers.

What You'll Learn:

  • Learn how builders and developers can obtain funding through FHLBanks for acquisition, development, construction or rehabilitation of affordable housing.
  • Explore how to build partnerships with FHLB members to provide opportunities for homebuyers and renters to obtain grants for home purchase or rehab.
  • Analyze the selection process for participation in the FHLBanks' Affordable Housing Program
