Accessibility

The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and continues to search for ways to better accommodate all visitors. Both buildings are designed with wheelchair ramps, automatic doors, passenger elevators and handicap-accessible restroom facilities.

Theater
The Linda W. Chapin Theater is fully wheelchair accessible and has 27 wheelchair accessible spaces. Assisted Listening Devices are also available with prior request.

Braille
Throughout the OCCC facility, meeting rooms, restrooms and elevator signs contain Braille text for our visually impaired guests.

Wheelchairs
If you would like to make arrangements to rent a wheelchair or a motorized scooter, the Orange County Convention Center serves as a drop-off and pick-up location for medical equipment providers. Because these scooters are distributed through private companies and are a high demand service, advance reservations are required. Please note that prices vary slightly between companies. The following is a list of companies that provide motorized scooters:

Convention Center Pick-up:
    Scoot Around: (888) 441-7575

Hotel Delivery:
AA Tourist Rentals Phone Number: (800) 941-4662
Walker Medical & Mobility Products Phone Number: (888) SCOOTER

When ordering a scooter for convention center pick-up, please specify to the company that you will be attending The International Builders’ Show® to ensure delivery to the appropriate building. Upon your arrival, scooters will be available for pick-up from the Kinko's Business Center in the Central Lobby of the West Building. Kinko's also provides complimentary overnight scooter battery recharge for scooters picked up at the Center.

Segways
Segways and other self-balancing motorized transports are not permitted to operate in the exhibit areas Wednesday, February 13 – Saturday, February 16, 2008. If you are disabled and require assisted mobility to move around the Show floor please see the Wheelchairs section above for information on motorized scooters.

Parking
Handicapped parking at OCCC is available in most parking lots. The exact number of spaces varies for each event.

Orlando police officers will accept your out-of-state disabled parking permit, as long as it is prominently displayed in the windshield of your car when you are parked in the designated public handicapped parking spots. Temporary handicapped parking permits are not available, so it is important to bring your permit from home to be displayed in your car.

Telephones
Text Phones (TTY) for guests with speech and hearing disabilities are located throughout the facility at most telephone locations.
